Francesco Dendena
Francesco Dendena (1981) grauated in 2004 at the University of Milan and completed his studies obtaining his Ph.D. in the University of Milan and in the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales of Paris under the direction of Professors Maria Luisa Cicalese and Patrice Gueniffey. His works, focused to the fogliant movement during the French Revolution, were rewarded by the François Furet Prize in 2012. The interest in the relationship between history-writing and its politic use led him to study the transmission of the memory of the English Civil War during the 18th century and the Great Revolution. In recent years, he devoted his researches on the book’s circulation and on the national library system’s construction in the Italian Peninsula: an opportunity to reflect on intercultural exchanges and their political dimension during the republican and consular period (1792-1805).
He is author of about twenty articles and contributions and published a monograph tiled I nostri maledetti scranni (Guerini e Associati, Milano, 2013) and edited the collection of essays Nella breccia del tempo, (Pearson, Milano, 2017).
Francesco Dendena (1981) si è laureato nel 2004 in storia presso l’Università degli Studi di Milano, dove è stato poi assegnista e professore a contratto di storia moderna per quattro anni. Dopo aver lavorato nell’editoria, ha conseguito un dottorato in co-tutela tra la Università di Milano e l’Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales a Parigi sotto la direzione del Professori Maria Luisa Cicalese e Patrice Gueniffey. Ai suoi lavori, dedicati al movimento fogliante, è stato assegnato il Premio François Furet nel 2012. L’interesse per i rapporti tra la scrittura della storia e il suo uso politico lo hanno portato studiare la trasmissione della memoria della guerra civile inglese durante il XVIII secolo e la Grande Rivoluzione. Negli ultimi anni infine le sue ricerche si sono concentrate sulla circolazione del libro e la costruzione del sistema bibliotecario nazionale nella Penisola Italiana, occasione per riflettere sugli scambi interculturali e la loro dimensione politica durante il periodo repubblicano e consolare (1792-1805).
Oltre a una ventina di articoli e contributi ha pubblicato una monografia dal titolo I nostri maledetti scranni (Guerini e Associati, Milano, 2013) e ha curato il volume Nella breccia del tempo (Pearson, Milano 2017).
